DCF has several initiatives running at any given time, directed towards the creation of Centers of Excellence in specific Universities. A Donor may participate in any initiative of their choice, and target their donation towards that initiative. When DCF is actively supporting an initiative, it is likely that DCF will establish campaigns for funds development around these specific named initiatives. Currently, DCF is supporting three major initiatives.

The Swami Vivekananda Initiative at USC

Support for the creation of the Swami Vivekananda endowed Chair for Hindu Studies and the Center for Indic Dharma and Civilizational Studies at the University of Southern California (USC). The Swami Vivekananda Chair will be a community funded Chair.

    • Funding Level required for the Chair = $3.3 Million
    • Funding Level required for the Center = $5.5 Million

The Swami Dayananda Saraswati Initiative in Berkeley

Support for the creation of an independent Graduate School of Hindu Dharma Studies in Berkeley. California. This also includes the Adi Shankara Institute for the study of Advaita Vedanta and Sanskrit as well as the Swami Dayananda Saraswati endowed Chair for Advaita Vedanta.

    • Funding Level required for the Swami Dayananda Saraswati Chair = $3.3 Million
    • Funding Level required for the Institute of Advaita Vedanta and Sanskrit = $5 Million
    • Funding Level required for the Graduate School = $40 Million

The Dr. Ushakant and Dr. Irma Thakkar Family Initiative at UCI

To set up an endowed Chair in Vedic Studies.

    • Funding Level required for this Chair = $500,000   (Dr. Ushakant and Dr. Irma Thakkar are contributing $1 Million on their own and UCI will also match the Community grant with funds of their own.
